In 2 Chronicles 20, King Jehoshaphat is confronted with a terrifying alliance of enemy nations coming against Judah, prompting him to seek the Lord through nationwide prayer and fasting. In response, God speaks through a prophet, assuring the people that the battle is not theirs but His, and instructing them to stand firm and witness His deliverance. As they worship and obey, God miraculously causes the enemy armies to destroy one another without Judah lifting a finger. The people of Judah then gather abundant spoil and rename the battlefield the Valley of Beracah—meaning blessing—rejoicing in the victory and favor of God.

Giving is not a mechanical or pressured obligation but a joyful, heartfelt expression of love, worship, and devotion to God, as seen in both the Old and New Testaments. Leaders are called to model sacrificial giving, and believers are encouraged to give willingly and generously, understanding that all we have belongs to God and is simply passing through us as stewards. The Macedonian believers exemplified generosity by giving joyfully despite extreme poverty, showing that genuine giving flows from a heart devoted first to the Lord. Ultimately, Jesus Christ is our supreme model of giving—He became poor so that we might become rich—calling us to respond not out of compulsion, but from gratitude and love.
