In this lesson on Galatians 6:1-2 Paul teaches that spiritual believers are responsible for restoring fellow Christians who fall into sin, doing so with a spirit of gentleness and humility rather than condemnation. Restoration is compared to setting a broken bone, emphasizing the goal of bringing the fallen believer back to spiritual health and fellowship. By bearing one another’s burdens in this way, Christians fulfill the law of Christ, which is the law of sacrificial love expressed through the power of the Holy Spirit.

This lesson warns against two extremes in understanding Satan and demons: either exaggerating their power or denying their existence altogether. While Satan is real and active, he is a created being under God’s sovereign control, and believers must take responsibility for their own sin rather than blaming demonic forces. The New Testament emphasizes living by God’s Word and relying on the power of the Gospel rather than engaging in dramatic spiritual warfare practices. Though believers wrestle against spiritual forces of evil, they resist the devil by submitting to God, standing on Scripture, and remembering that through Christ they are fighting from victory, not for it.

In this powerful passage, Paul triumphantly declares that believers are loved by God from beginning to end, and that absolutely nothing can separate them from His love in Christ. He grounds this assurance in God’s sovereign work of salvation—foreknowing, predestining, calling, justifying, and glorifying—showing that salvation is entirely God’s doing and therefore eternally secure. Neither sin, suffering, spiritual forces, life, death, nor any created thing can successfully condemn or sever God’s elect from His saving love, because Christ has died, risen, and now intercedes for them. As a result, believers are more than conquerors through Christ, resting confidently in the unshakable promise that God’s love will preserve them forever.

Ultimately, believers are called to maturity in Christ, resisting the devil through obedience, truth, and reliance on the power of the Holy Spirit.

In this lesson, we explore Paul's teaching from Romans 8:28–39 that God’s love for His people began before the foundation of the world and will continue unbroken to the end. The “Golden Chain of Salvation” shows that salvation is entirely God’s work—foreknown, predestined, called, justified, and glorified—guaranteeing that all things work together for our good. Because God did not spare His own Son and has already justified us, no accusation or condemnation can ultimately stand against His elect. Therefore, nothing in all creation can separate believers from the everlasting love of God in Christ Jesus—this is not merely an explanation, but a promise.

Paul teaches that believers who walk by the Spirit must gently restore any brother or sister overtaken by sin, guarding themselves against pride and temptation. He contrasts Spirit-dependence with legalistic self-effort, showing that reliance on the law produces conceit, rivalry, and spiritual defeat, while the Spirit produces humility and true growth. The one “caught in transgression” is not necessarily willfully rebellious but may be overtaken in weakness, highlighting the need for compassion rather than condemnation. Restoration, therefore, is a redemptive act, like setting a broken bone, aimed at returning the believer to dependence on the Holy Spirit and renewed fellowship with Christ.

Satan and demons actively work through deception, temptation, and destructive influences to turn people away from God and hinder believers’ faith and witness, yet they remain limited under God’s sovereign control. Their power is restricted—they cannot know the future or read human thoughts, operating instead through observation and influence. Scripture shows demonic activity behind idolatry and pagan worship in the Old Testament, while the ministry of Jesus marked a dramatic increase in confrontations as He exercised absolute authority over demons. Christ also delegated this authority to His disciples and the Church, assuring believers of victory over demonic forces and the ultimate final judgment of Satan and his hosts.
