How can a fallen, sinful human being ever be at peace with a holy God?
In this episode, Pastor Bartlett draws from Isaiah 32:17 to uncover the truth that peace with God can only be achieved through the work of righteousness — a work that only God can accomplish through Jesus Christ. As we explore the concept of justification, we learn how Christ's perfect life and sacrificial death on the cross provide the righteousness we desperately need.
This episode is a powerful reminder that peace with God comes on His terms, through His provision, and offers eternal assurance to those who believe.

Discover how Peace with God is not something that we can achieve through our own efforts but is a divine gift, attainable only through faith in Jesus Christ.
Join us as we examine the nature of this peace and the transformative impact it has on our relationship with our Creator.

In 1 Corinthians 15:21-22, Paul explains that through Adam's disobedience, sin and death entered the world, affecting all humanity. In contrast, through Christ's obedience, believers are made alive. This reflects a covenantal relationship where Adam's fall is imputed to all, while Christ's righteousness is granted to believers. Tim Keller and other scholars note that sin is inherited, not just learned. The Fall brought spiritual and physical death, and humanity’s desire for independence from God led to sin and suffering. True fulfillment comes through obedience and holiness, as seen in Christ's submission to God's will.

Paul emphasizes that believers, through their adoption as sons of God, are no longer slaves but heirs of God's promises, receiving the full rights and privileges of sonship. This transition from slavery to sonship is marked by the Holy Spirit's indwelling, which assures believers of their relationship with God, allowing them to cry out "Abba, Father" in intimate trust. Paul urges the Galatians to reject legalism and remain in the freedom of grace, as their inheritance in Christ is secure not by works, but by God's grace. True spiritual growth comes from living by faith, not reverting to bondage under the law.

The lesson is a reflection on the biblical parable of the prodigal son, emphasizing the significance of a father’s love and the complexities of familial relationships. The story portrays a father with two sons: the younger, who leaves home and squanders his inheritance, and the older, who remains dutiful but harbors resentment. The father’s unwavering love is evident as he welcomes back his repentant younger son with open arms, while also reassuring the elder son of his unchanging love and inheritance. The reflection extends beyond this parable, connecting it to the broader biblical narrative of father-son relationships, such as those between Adam and his sons, Cain and Abel, and Abraham and his sons, Ishmael and Isaac. The message underscores the importance of understanding a father's heart, the enduring nature of God's love, and the call for unity and reconciliation among believers, highlighting Jesus as the ultimate expression of God's love as His Son.

The attributes of God are divided into incommunicable and communicable types. Incommunicable attributes, like God's eternal nature, are unique to Him and not shared with creation. Communicable attributes, such as love, are those that God shares with humans, though not fully. The distinction between these categories isn't perfect, as some overlap exists. God's names in Scripture reflect His character, and He reveals Himself using language and imagery familiar to humans, though His true nature transcends these descriptions. God’s independence highlights His self-existence and self-sufficiency, needing nothing from creation, yet creation is valuable to Him by His sovereign will.

The lesson discusses the fall of Adam and Eve in Genesis 3, emphasizing that while Satan tempted them, the responsibility for sin lies solely with Adam and Eve, who chose to disobey God. It highlights the seriousness of sin as a rebellion against God's authority and notes that even slight deviations from God's word, as seen in Eve's misquotation, can have significant consequences. The text underscores the importance of strict obedience to God's commands and reflects on how sin challenges God's sovereignty, ultimately linking this to Christ's role in addressing sin.

The study of Galatians 4:4-6 explores the concept of spiritual adoption, where believers are legally and spiritually made God's children through Christ's redemptive work. Paul uses the Roman law of adoption to explain that believers, as God's adopted children, share in Christ's inheritance and enjoy a close, personal relationship with God, expressed in the cry "Abba! Father!" The Holy Spirit confirms this relationship by replacing fear with the confidence of being God's child. This adoption assures believers of their status under grace, not law, and is both a scriptural truth and a personal experience affirmed by the Spirit.

The lesson emphasizes that while we cannot fully understand the infinite nature of God, we can indeed know Him personally and intimately. The Bible assumes God's existence from the beginning, and both Scripture and nature testify to His existence and attributes. Every human has an innate sense of God's existence and moral awareness, which is further revealed through Scripture. Although God's greatness is beyond full comprehension, believers are encouraged to seek a deeper knowledge of Him through prayer, Bible study, and a personal relationship with Him, which is the greatest blessing of the Christian life.

The message discusses the Fall of Man, emphasizing that while the term "Fall of Man" isn't found in the Bible, it describes the moral downfall of Adam and Eve due to their disobedience by eating from the forbidden tree, which brought sin and corruption into the world. The serpent, symbolizing Satan, cunningly deceived Eve, leading her to doubt God's word and intentions. This act of deception caused humanity to lose its pure relationship with God, resulting in a world filled with sin and moral corruption. The message also highlights the importance of relying on God's Word to combat Satan's lies and temptations, as demonstrated by Jesus during His temptation in the wilderness.
