Change The Mind; Change The Man Pt. 2 | Sunday Sermon
In 1 Corinthians 5:1-13, the apostle Paul addresses a serious issue within the Corinthian church: a member engaging in incestuous relations with his father's wife. Paul rebukes the church not only for allowing such behavior but also for their arrogance in tolerating it. He emphasizes the need for discipline, urging them to remove the offender from their midst. Paul highlights the importance of not associating with those who claim to be believers but persist in sinful lifestyles, including sexual immorality, greed, idolatry, revelry, drunkenness, and swindling. He stresses the significance of purging such evil from the church community and warns against the dangers of repeated exposure to sin, which can desensitize individuals and lead to acceptance and even love of evil. Paul's ultimate concern is for the spiritual well-being of both the offender and the church, urging them to focus on what is true, honorable, just, pure, lovely, and commendable, and to follow his example in living a life that reflects God's peace.
