Abba! Father! | Lesson 55 | Bible Study

The study of Galatians 4:4-6 explores the concept of spiritual adoption, where believers are legally and spiritually made God's children through Christ's redemptive work. Paul uses the Roman law of adoption to explain that believers, as God's adopted children, share in Christ's inheritance and enjoy a close, personal relationship with God, expressed in the cry "Abba! Father!" The Holy Spirit confirms this relationship by replacing fear with the confidence of being God's child. This adoption assures believers of their status under grace, not law, and is both a scriptural truth and a personal experience affirmed by the Spirit.
