A God-Made Covenant Pt. 2 | Lesson 43 | Bible Study
In Galatians 3:15-17, Paul continues his defense of the authentic Gospel by arguing that the covenant God made with Abraham, centered on justification by faith and the promise of blessing through Christ, precedes and supersedes the Law given to Moses. Paul rebuts the Judaizers' claim that the Law annuls or replaces the Abrahamic Covenant, asserting that a covenant, once ratified, cannot be altered or added to. He emphasizes that the promise made to Abraham, focused on his "offspring," who is Christ, remains unalterable. Paul employs human logic to illustrate the permanence of God's covenant with Abraham, contrasting it with the conditional nature of the Mosaic Covenant. He underscores that salvation has always been by faith, even before the Law, and that the Law served a different purpose than justifying sinners. The Abrahamic Covenant, characterized by grace and unconditional promises, contrasts sharply with the conditional nature of the Mosaic Covenant, emphasizing that salvation is solely through faith in Christ.
