To Whom Do We Belong? | Lesson 99 | Bible Study

This lesson teaches that believers belong to Jesus Christ, having been bought at a great price through His sacrificial death, and therefore no longer live for themselves but for Him. Paul explains that the fruit of the Spirit is the life and character of Christ produced in believers by the Holy Spirit, making legalism and rule-keeping powerless to produce true godliness. Galatians 5:24 shows that those who belong to Christ have crucified the flesh, meaning both that believers are positionally united with Christ in His death and are also called to actively live out that reality by the Spirit’s power. The Christian life, therefore, is not about self-effort or rules, but about Christ living in and through the believer as they yield daily to the Holy Spirit.
