Reconcilliation & Church Discipline Pt. 9 | Sunday Sermon

This study explains that Matthew 18:15–20 outlines five steps for church reconciliation and discipline: private meeting, private conference with witnesses, public announcement, public exclusion, and public restoration. It teaches that “binding” and “loosing” refer not to controlling earthly circumstances but to the church’s authority to affirm what God has already determined regarding sin, repentance, and restoration. Jesus’ promise that “where two or three are gathered” confirms that both the Father and the Son support the church when it acts biblically in matters of discipline. The lesson concludes by emphasizing confession and mutual prayer among believers, showing that openness about sin leads to true fellowship, healing, and spiritual restoration.
