Reconcilliation & Church Discipline Pt. 5 | Sunday Sermon
This lesson emphasizes that church discipline, as outlined in Matthew 18:15–20, is meant for restoration, not condemnation, and must be exercised with love, humility, and consistency. Discipline serves three main purposes: restoring the sinner to fellowship, preserving the purity and witness of the church, and glorifying God by reflecting His holiness and love. The process begins privately with the offender, then with witnesses, and if unrepentant, it is brought before the entire church, always with the aim of reconciliation. Ultimately, discipline is a corporate responsibility of the church, protecting against abuses of power and displaying the gospel through forgiveness and restoration.
